Director: Miss Sarah Brown

Sarah Brown is the director of the National Conservatoire Ballet Company. Sarah started out at the Queensland Dance School of Excellence at the age of 14. At the age of 16 Sarah was accepted into the WA Academy of Performing Arts under the direction of Lucette Aldous one of Australia's leading ladies in dance, being both principal artist with the Royal Ballet Company and Australian Ballet. Sarah had the opportunity to do Don Quioxte, Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, new works from American dancer and choreorgrapher Patrik Dady and got to perform a new contemporary work choreographed by Tim Gorden as well as study spanish and ballroom. At 18 Sarah was invited to go to Paris and Lyon where she danced at the conservatoire in both Paris and Lyon with the Paris and the Lyon Opera's where she proceeded to dance throughout London and Germany before her return to Australia.

 

Upon Sarah's return she performed as a guest artist in the Sleeping Beauty where she alternated the roles of Aurora and the Lylac Fairy. After dancing at the Sydney Opera House Sarah had the opportunity to work with and collaborate with principal artists from the Australian Ballet working alongside the likes of Fiona Tonkins, David Ashmole, Christine Walsh, Marylin Jones and many more. The opportunity to work with both national and international choreorgraphers in both classical and modern flieds has given Sarah much diversity in the dance world.

 

In 2003 sarah became principal dancer with the National Conservatoire Ballet Company an independent company  in Melbourne where she performed many diverse roles for over 8 years. Performing in Swan Lake, Natcracker, Les Sylfide, Don Quoixte and Copellia to name a few as well as fairy tales from the Ugly Duckling, Red Ridinghood, Hansel and Gretal and the Little Match Girl. During her time in Melbourne Sarah performed guest roles and danced new works from guest choreorgaphers from Australia. During her time as principal dancer and assistant director Sarah had her own successful dance school for over 12 years and is a qualified teacher with the Australian Institute of Classical Dance under the guidence of Marliyn Jones.

 

Sarah was also guest examiner for dance schools in Melbourne throughout the 12 years she was there. Sarah was often a guest teacher in other dance schools helping students get ready for assessments, exams and auditions from other dance schools, including the Australian Ballet School.

 

Sarah moved to Queensland in 2013 as a guest teacher and toured to regional areas holding workshops and masterclasses. It was on her travels that she came to realize the lack of opportunities for dance students in rural areas and decided to use her experience in dance to start up a youth company that focus's on giving back to the community in not only giving students greater opportunities but also taking dance into more rural areas and making it more accessable for everyone.
